Beaches

The beautiful soft white sandy beach of Figueira da Foz is reputedly the largest in Europe and has hosted major beach sport championships including volleyball, football and the 2010 European Beach Rugby championship.

Great for sunbathing and a blue flag swimming area, the beach runs the length of Figueira has several laid-back beach bars, children’s play areas, tents to hire and has occasional evening events such as live music concerts.

  The main beach is just a 6 minute or so walk from the apartment. Volleyball nets are usually set up, free to use, or you can set one up yourself.

   Beach tennis and football are also available on the main beach

An 'oasis' has been created on one section of the beach where there is also a funfair and kid's play areas and quite often beach puppet shows!
 

    The beach to the south of Figueira is also popular with families and surfers.  A bus ride across the river from outside apartment takes 15 minutes.
 

      The boulevard runs parallel to the beach and is popular for walking as well as for it's shops, cafes, art galleries, restaurants and bars.

 




    Quiaios beach to the north of Figueira has silky soft sand and dunes. Quiaios is on the other side of the 'Serra da Boa Viagen' hill.
